Abstract

As educators we have a tremendous responsibility for educating young people about the subjects we teach.  Inherent in this responsibility is an issue concerning what to teach and how to teach it.  Ultimately, what we choose to teach and how we present it to our students will result in their education or indoctrination.  Educators have a responsibility to ensure that their students are learning how to analyze and interpret information so they can make choices for themselves. Education becomes indoctrination when students are being taught only one way of looking at things and not how to analyze and interpret information from various sources.  In teaching the minimum wage we should be careful about how we present the models in order to ensure that education is taking place and not indoctrination.
